Curriculum and Goals
Our curriculum is based on Massachusetts Department of Education Guidelines for Preschool Learning and the Early Childhood Program Standards. The Preschool Learning Guidelines reflect the Massachusetts Department of Education's commitment to quality, in order to ensure a solid foundation for learning and school success.
Best Friends Preschool emphasizes developmental and age-appropriate activities, so our students are well prepared for the challenges they will face in Kindergarten and beyond. Our goal is to provide an environment in which each child will grow and develop to their maximum potential.
Our preschool classroom follows a literature based curriculum. Teachers plan activities according to the story of the day. Our per-kindergarten classroom follows a weekly thematic curriculum. Teachers plan activities according to the theme of the week.
Both classrooms plan their curriculum by implementing English Language Arts, Mathematics, Reading & Literature, History and Social Studies, Science and Technology,Engineering, Health Education, and The Arts in their weekly routines.
Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self and teacher directed activities. Developmental and age appropriate activities are used to promote the learning process. Progress reports are sent home in January and June of each year.
